Once the Israelites observed that God was going to get them to the promised land these were enthusiastic when I believe you would be too. The road to the promised land however turned out not to be, what they expected. They anticipated to be used there fast and in comfort, but instead the street took them through the desert and they endured a myriad of struggles. 

Food was scarce and therefore was water, yet there wasn't a single night they visited bed without having eaten or having quenched their thirst. God offered within their needs in remarkable ways. 

However the individuals of God were not happy and started to long back to their life in Egypt. Food was generally available and when they pleased they might drink and eat, although they were slaves. But just as the route of the Bible went through the desert, our route also often go through the desert. 

In order to get to the promised land, we sometimes have to endure hardships and make sacrifices, which in the end becomes beneficial. 

There's the well-known saying, "easy come, simple go." All of us know those who acquired instant wealth, and lost it just as straight away.
